Its spring time - Onset of spring in Toronto and in NE USA

After a long lingering harsh snowy winter, finally we are on the onset of spring weather in the southern part of Canada and the NE of USA. What does a spring means to the inhabitants of this zone is unimaginable for the inhabitants of other warmer zones. The harsh, biting cold, chilly weather is over now and masses are out of their hibernation.

So they try to enjoy spring and summers to the utmost outdoor activities. Walking, jogging, biking, skating, picnicking, swimming, barbequing and one can name all other outdoor sports and activities get start with a Zeal and bang. It seems like a lively hustle bustle in life has started all over again and a new chapter is opened with incoming spring.

Tulips, daffodils, irises, pussy willow, forsythia and all the early bulbs and flowers are peeping out. Most of the gardeners planted these bulbs during fall season or they were lying there from previous season to see the blooms in spring.  Soon after the Mercury gets above zero, these start popping out. Barren trees which almost seemed dead now are showing lots of signs of a new life with fresh leaves and buds. Most of the trees are flowering trees with white pinkish bunches of flowers look amazing in blooms. These trees apple, apricot, pear and so many first bloom with flowers and later on get leaves when the flowers are thwarted. How can one forget the fabulous sight of Cherry blossoms, a typical plant of Japan but abundantly grown in USA’s 1600 Pennsylvania AVE Washington DC and High Park in Toronto down town. A gift of Japan some 50 years ago, it’s a wonderful sight to watch and enjoy the blooms. Japanese adore this tree religiously and call it Sakura.

Lots of beautiful birds are chirping in, building nests and flying around, Squirrels and rabbits are hopping to enjoy the weather and find new food. People are busy in racking and cleaning their yards, Buying plants, soil, mulch and fertilizer. The BBQ grills are cleaned up and the aroma is spreading around.
Flights after flights the Canadian geese are thronging back home.

So are the snow birds (term used for those who spend winters in warmer climate, especially in the warmer parts of USA) are landing backing home.
All the big stores have set up big garden centers all of a sudden selling out lots of flowers, pots, garden decor, soil and other accessories. Everyone is so crazy about plants and gardening.

Everywhere the spring cleanup has been started, so is the repair, paint work of the houses, buildings, roads and highways. Inside the closets, cabinets, dressers and ward robes the winter clothing has gone behind. Everyone is trying their best to be dressed up for spring. Even the cars are washed and a spring oil change is done.
During my first summer here, I was amazed to see people greeting each other “Happy Summers.” After spending lot many years in the sultry, humid and hot weather of Karachi, one could not imagine greetings at the start of summers. Summers of course are so horrible in Karachi and rest of the country. But now, I know what the importance of summers in Toronto is.  During summers here temperatures of 30c is an extreme heat alert.

The winters start here by the end of October. At that time all the outdoor activities are closed. The amusement parks and all outside recreation activities are closed down for winters, even the wash rooms in public parks are closed. It starts snowing in November which goes up to March or even early April. This year it snowed in third week of April. It is a beauty to watch the snowflakes coming down and everything covered in a white drape around. The evergreen specially Christmas trees carrying the snow beautifully and elegantly on their branches. That is simply majestic. I am so mesmerized with this sight. But going out and driving around is miserable in that weather. It is so slushy around with the mix of salt and snow melting materials on paths and roads. As soon as the snow comes down folks are out to clear their drive ways and paths with shovels. If not done then it becomes hard and slippery and very risky for breaking one’s bones. When it gets warm and the snow is melted down, again with the freezing temperatures that water is turned into ice. That is called black ice, which is very slippery and deceiving. The wind chill factor is kind of biting bones. Thanks to the weather channel updates which show us the temperatures with wind chill factor all the time. After watching that, you may go out after bundling up.

There are so many facilities to combat cold. Keeping in warm all the indoors, one should dress up in layers to take them off after getting inside. Folks are mostly involved in indoor activities and games. There are indoor basketball, squash courts, swimming pools, Hockey ranks, ice skating, gyms and now even soccer courts in some areas.

With the onset of spring a lot many showers and thunder storms come too. April Showers, bring May flowers. This area in fact is so much blessed with plenty of waters. That is the reason that we can see all the great five lakes around. There are so many other lakes, streams and rivers all over around.

انوار و تجلیات کا مرکز ،عالم اسلام کا مرکز، دھڑکتا ہوا دل ،مکہ وہ شہر جو چوبیس گھنٹے جاگتا ہے جہاں رات ، تاریکی اور خاموشی نام کی کوئی چیز نہیں ہےجہاں دن رات کی چہل پہل اور گہما گہمی میں کوئی فرق نہیں ہوتا -دنیا میں اور بھی چند شہر ہیں جنکی وجہ شہرت ہردم جاگنے کی ہے لیکن وہ دوسری طرح کے شہر ہیں -یہ شہر جہاں پر عالم اسلام کے کونے کونے سے اہل ایمان اللہ کے دربار میں حاضری کیلئے کشاں کشاں چلے آتے ہیں لبیک اللھم لبیک کی صدائیں لگاتے ہوئے - حاضر ہو ں اے میرے اللہ میں حاظر ہوں - قافلے، گروپ ،انفرادی طور پر، اللہ کے اس گھر  میںآنے کیلئے  کہا جاتا ہے کہ جسکا بلاوا ہو وہی آتا ہے- مواصلات کےجدید ذرائع نے سفر کو بےحدآسان بنا دیا ہے -  پر سفر پھر بھی سفر ہے-الحمدللہ جب اللہ تعالی نے اس مرتبہ پھر حاضری کی توفیق دی تو اس رب کریم کا بیحد شکر ادا کرتے ہوئے تمام مراحل سے گزرتی ہوئی مکہ میں داخل ہوئی-یہ مقام جسکو اللہ کا پہلا گھر بنانے کیلئے منتخب کیا گیاروایات مٰیں ہے کہ کعبہ سب سے پہلے آدم علیہ السلام نے تعمیر کیا-جہاں کی بے آب وگیاہ وادی میں ابراہیم خلیل اللہ اپنی بیوی ہاجرہ اور ننھے بیٹے اسماعیل کو اللہ کے حکم سے چھوڑکر چلے گئے -                                        جہاں ہاجرہ پانی کی تلاش میں صفا و مروہ کے درمیان    دوڑتی رہیں  جہاں ننھے اسماعیل کے قدموں سے زم زم چشمہ جاری ہوا                                    خالق کاینات کو یہ عمل اور یہ بھاگ دوڑ اسقدر بھا یا کہ اسے قیامت تک اہلایمان پرعمرے اور حج کے رکن کے طور پر جاری کیا جہا ں پر ابراہیم علیہالسلام اسماعیل علیہالسلام کو اللہ کے حکم سے قربان کرنے گئےاور جب یہ قربانی اللہ کی بارگاہ میں قبول ہوئی تو دونوں باپ بیٹوں نے ملکر کعبہ کو تعمیر کیااور جب وہ کعبہ کی دیواریں اٹھا رہے تھے تو دعا کرتےجاتے  اے میرےرب   اس شہر کو امن و سلامتی کا شہر بنا" اے رب ہماری دعائیں قبول کرلے بے شک تو سننے والا جاننے والاہے-اے ہمارے رب ہمکو مسلم( اطاعت گزار) بنا اور ہماری نسل سے ایسی قوم اٹھانا جوتیری مسلم ہو ، ہمیں اپنی عبادت کے طریقے سکھا ، ہماری جانب توجہ فرما بے شک تو توبہ قبول کرنیوالا رحم فرمانے والا ہے - اے ہمارے رب انمیں وہ رسول مبعو ث فرما جو انہیں تیری آیات سنائے انہیں کتاب اور حکمت کی تعلیم دے ، انکو پاکیزہ بنائے بے شک تو ذبردست حکمت والا ہے--البقرہ 126،127،128129-کعبہ جو تاریخ کے ہزاروں سالہ ادوار سے گزرا ہے جہاں پر شرک بھی ہوا اور بت پرستی بھی- اور جسکو دعائے خلیل نوید مسیحا محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے خدائے واحد کی عبادت کا رخ اور آماجگاہ بنا دیا-  وہ کعبہ جو مرجع خلائق ہے جسکا طواف سوائے نماز کے اوقات کے ہمہ وقت جاری ہوتا ہے جسکے متعلق کہا جاتا ہے کہ فرشتے بھی اسکا طواف کرتے رہتے ہیں ابابیلوں کو طواف کرتے ہوئے میں نے خود دیکھا ہے- اسی کعبہ کو ڈھانے کیلئے جب ابرہہ اپنا ہاتھیوں کا لشکر لیکر حملہ آور ہوا تو ابابیلوں نے اللہ کے حکم سے اسے ایسا برباد کیا جیسے بھوسے کا کھایا ہوا ڈھیر- کعبہ  ایک چوکور کمرہ،  کالے غلاف میں لپٹا ہوا ،جسپر کتاب اللہ کی آیات زردوزی سے انتہائی خوبصورتی سےکڑھی  ہوئی ہیں ایک کونے میں حجر اسود ہے جسے چومنے کے لئے اہل ایمان بے تاب ہیں اور جسکے متعلق عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا " اے حجر اسود میں تمہیں کبھی نہ چومتا اگر میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو تمہیں چومتے نہ دیکھا ہوتا- یہ کعبہ جس کی جانب رخ کر کے دنیا کے اربوں کھربوں مسلمان ہر دم ہر لمحہ سجدہ ریز ہوتے ہیں اور یہ حکم جاری کرنیوالا کون تھا یہ میرا رسول آقائے نامدارمحمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم تھا جو اسی مکہ میں ایک معزز گھرانے میں پیدا ہوا ، پلا بڑھا ،مکے کا انتہائی نیک و صالح جوان امین و صادق کے القاب کے ساتھ مشہورہواجسنےایک مشہور تاجر خاتون خدیجہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے نکاح کیا جسے 40 برس کی عمر میں اللہ نے اپنے نبوت سے نوازا وہ خاتم النبیین افضل الانبیاء جب اللہ واحد کے پیغام              کے ساتھ اپنی قوم کی طرف آیا تو اسے انتہائی مخالفت کا سامنا کرنا پڑا-اسی مکے میں اسنے انتہائی دکھ ، اذیت اور تکالیف برداشت کئے کیوں ؟اللہ کے اس پیغام کا بول بالا کرنیکے لئے جسکے لئے اللہ نے اسے منتخب کیا تھا-مصائب و آلام کا ایک دور گزار کر وہ اپنے ساتھیوں سمیت مدینہ کی جانب مہاجر ہوا-اور مدینہ کی اسلامی ریاست کا یہ با تدبر حکمران، سپہ سالار جب دس برس کے بعد اس مکے میں فاتح مکہ کی حیثیت سے واپس داخل ہوا تو اسنے اپنے جانی دشمنوں کی بھی جان بخشی کردی اور انکے ساتھ وہ سلوک کیا جو یوسف علیہ السلام نے اپنے بھائیوں کے ساتھ کیا تھا-  - حسن سلوک اور رواداری--لا تثریب علیکم الیوم آج کے دن تم پر کوئی گرفت نہیں ہے--صلی اللہ خیر خلقھ محمد وآلھ و اصحابھ اجمعین-

خیالات اور سوچ کا ایک دھارا تھا کہ دماغ میں ریل کی طرح چل رہاتھا-بیت الحرم کو موجودہ سعودی حکومت ایک عظیم الشان عمارت اور منصوبے میں ( Mega complex) میں ڈھال رہی ہے چاروں طرف کام جاری ہے توڑ پھوڑ ،تعمیراتی مشینوں کی گھن گرج اور شور - چار سال پہلے میں حج پر آئی تھی تو یہی حال تھا اب اس سے بھی کہیں زیادہ ہے - بڑی بڑی تصاویر سے نمایاں کیا ہوا ہے کہ حرم الحرام کس شکل صورت کا ہوگا-ماشاءاللہ میلوں کے رقبے میں پھیلا ہوا اسکے متعد دروازے ہیں -ملازمین اور خدام کی ایک خلقت ہے-- اس مرتبہ حرم میں جیسے ہی داخل ہوئی اور کعبے پر نظر نہیں پڑی تو عجیب دکھ سا ہوا ورنہ اس سے پہلے حرم شریف میں داخلے کے بعد ہر سمت سے کعبہ نظر آتا تھا- معذوروں کے لئے اوپر مطوف بنایا گیا ہے جس سے آڑ آگئی ہے -کہتے ہیں کہ یہ بعد میں ہٹا دیا جائے گا-- 

ہم کل رات ہی ایک طویل سفر کے بعد یہاں پہنچے تھے -عمرے کی نیت اور احرام میں تو تھے ہی لیکن تھکن سے چور تو فیصلہ ہوا کہ تہجد کے بعد عمرہ ادا کرینگے - بیت اللہ میں حاضری ہر مرتبہ ایک نئی اہمیت کی حامل ہوتی ہے- آدھے سے زیادہ دن گزارنے کے بعد احساس ہو رہاتھا کہ بس اسی ارض مقدس کی باسی ہوں--اب     حرم شریف میں نماز عصر سے فارغ ہوئی اور ہوٹل جانے لگی تو اہل اسلام کا ٹھاٹھیں مارتا ہوا سمندر گزر رہا تھا مرد و خواتین کے سر ہی سر مختلف رنگت ، لباس، بھانت بھانت کی بولیاں ، خواتین کے مختلف وضع قطع کے حجاب اور جلباب، ایک عجیب سی بیخودی اور سرشاری کی کیفیت تھی -ایک ہی صف میں کھڑے ہوگئے محمود و ایاز-- لاکھوں کا مجمع ، معلوم ہوا کہ مملکت کے تعلیمی اداروں میں دس روزہ چھٹیاں ہیں اور اکثریت نے یہاں کا رخ کیا ہوا ہے --

انمیں مقامی اور قرب و جوار کے لوگ بھی تھے اور ہماری طرح سات سمندر پار سے آئے ہوئے بھی --میں نے تصاویرکھینچنی شروع کیںتصاویر کا بھی خوب ہے اب حرم کے منتظمین نے اس سے چشم پوشی اختیار کر لی ہے اسلئے کہ معاملہ انکے بس سے باہر ہو گیا ہے- ہر ایک کے پاس فون ہے جسمیں کیمرہ ہے اور دیگر چھوٹے کیمروں سے بھی تصویر کشی ہورہی ہے ورنہ کیمرے چھین لئے جاتے تھے-

ہر نماز کے اختتام پر نماز جنازہ کی ادائیگی ہوتی ہے - ایک کے بعد ایک کئی جنازے جا رہے تھے - حرم میں جنازہ اور مکہ میں تدفین ایک بہت بڑی سعادت سمجھی جاتی ہے -ہمارے بزرگ تو اسکی دعائیں اور تمنا کرتے تھے واللہ اعلم بالصواب- حرم اور اسکے حدود میں ایک نماز کا اجر ایک لاکھ گنا - کچھ علماء دیگر نیکیوں کے لئے بھی یہ اجر بتاتے ہیں-اور ان حدود میں جو گناہ سر زد ہوں انکی سزا،کیا وہ بھی لاکھوں میں ہوگی؟ ارد گرد ایک سے ایک عالی شان عمارات ہیں اسوقت کلاک ٹاور سب پر چھایا ہوا ہے - پچھلی مرتبہ یہ برج البیت کہلاتا تھا اب ابراج البیت اور کلاک ٹاور ہے اسکے اندر پورے کاروباری مراکز ، دکانین ، مشہور ریسٹورنٹ-اس ٹاؤر کے اوپر گھڑی کو مکہ میں چاروں طرف سے دیکھا جاسکتاہے-معلوم ہوا کہ سعودی حکومت نے اس عمارت سے ہونیولی آمدنی کو بیت الحرم کے اخراجات میں لگامے کا فیصلہ کیا ہے- اسی رو میں بہتی ہوئی میں رواں دواں تھی کہ اچانک ایک گڑھے میںٹھوکرلگی ا پیرڈگمگایا اور بری طرح منہ کے بل گری- بلکہ کیسے گری اور کس رخ پر اسکا مجھے اب بھی ادراک نہیں ہے - تین نوجوان لڑکے لڑکیاں فرشتوں کی طرح میری مدد کو آگے بڑھے انہوں نے پہلے تومجھے سہارادیکر اٹھایا میرے منہ پر پانی چھڑکا اور مجھے پینے کو پانی دیا -میرا سامان اور عینک دور گر پڑی تھی لیکن سب چیزیں محفوظ تھیں انہوں نے مجھے بٹھا کر اور کھڑا کرکے تسلی کرلی کہ میں ہوش میں ہوں --بعد میں قریبی دارالمشفٰی میں میرے تفصیلی ایکسرے اور معائینہ ہوا -ایک بازو بالکل اٹھ نہیں پارہاتھا اور بھی کافی شدید چوٹیں آئیں اللہ کا بے حد کرم تھا کہ ہڈی نہیں ٹوٹی --اللہ کی رحمت اور قوت ایمانی سے وہاں کے قیام کے باقی دنوں سےمستفیض ہوئی اور زخموں کے باوجود اپنا سفر جاری رکھا --مدینہ منورہ میں اللہ تعالٰی نے حاضری اور زیارہ کی توفیق دی

ابھی واپسی کو دو ہفتے گزر چکے ہیں لیکن یہاں پر ایکسرے الٹرا ساؤنڈ اور سی ٹی اسکین ہوچکے ہیں کندھے کے پاس بازو کے پٹھے پھٹ گئے ہیں -جسکو آرام دینے کیلئے علاج ہورہے ہیں اگر کچھ عرصے میں صحیح نہ ہوئے تو آپریشن کرنا پڑیگا--مکہ معظمہ کا یہ سفر یاد گار رہے گا--اے مکے میں واری جاؤن تیری گلیوں کے-ہمارے ہاں نعتوں میں کیا تان باندھ دیا جاتا ہے -- لیکن شہر مکہ کے منتظمین سے انٹر نیٹ کی اس سہولت کے ذریعے اپنی شکایت پیش کر رہی ہوں - کاش کہ میری آواز صدا بہ صحرا ثابت نہ ہو اس شکایت کو انگریزی اخبارات میں بھی دینی کی کوشش کرونگی- ایک اایسا شہر جہاں اربو ں کھربوں کی تعمیرات ہورہی ہوں کیا وہاں بین القوامی سطح کی سڑکیں ، گلیاں اور راہگیروں کے لئے فٹ پاتھ تعمیر نہیں کئے جاسکتے پھر اکثر جگہ ٹریفک گھسی چلی آرہی ہے شہر کی مجموعی صفائی کی حالت بھی انتہائی ناگفتہ بہ ہے- ہزاروں کی تعداد میں کھڑا صفائی کا عملہ لوگوں کی شکل دیکھتا رہتا ہے کہ وہ انکو زکوٰۃ خیرات میں کیا تھماتے ہیں - مکہ کی نسبت مدینہ زیادہ صاف ستھرا اور منظم ہے- سعودی حکومت کو ان شعبوں پر توجہ دینا چاہئے -ہاں یہ امر قابل تعریف ہے کہ عمرہ اور حج ویزہ پر آنیوالوں کے لئے علاج معالجے کی سہولیات سعودی حکومت کی جانب سے مفت دستیاب ہیں--  اب زندگی میں پھر کب مکے کی گلیاں دیکھنے کا اور کعبۃ اللہ میں حاضری کا موقع ملے گا بس بلاوے کی بات ہے - میرا رب اس حاضری اور ان تکالیف کو قبول فرمالے ---آمین

She was thrilling with excitement when she called me, aunty I have got the papers for our immigrant visa and we are going to Islamabad for it by the end of this month. Is this possible that I stay with your brother? The shuttle for US embassy leaves early in the morning, it will be easier for me to catch a taxi from Islamabad to diplomatic enclave.” “ Yes , of course. I am so glad to hear that , lots of congratulations . Don't worry you can stay with my brother and he will drop you at the embassy early in the morning. I 'll talk to him and let them know.” I assured her . “ Aunty I have taken off the kids from school , otherwise I had to pay summer vacation fee. I too have resigned from my job as it was so strenuous and I was quite a bit tired.” “Yes you should ask Parvez to enroll them here in US after you get the immigration Visas. I am so happy for you that you are getting united with your husband and coming to USA.” We talked for quite a while .Sabahat was busy doing all the preparations to come to Houston to join her husband here.

After talking her I send an e-mail to my brother and he assured me that there is no problem in their stay with them and he will take care of her embassy's pick and drop.

It was almost 10 years when her husband got immigration through his family and moved to USA. He was not highly educated but had some skills. He started work in a factory.

Sabahat was lucky to have support of her mother. Her father had died long time ago. She was her lone child, both of them lived together in their house. Being a very good driver, last time when I was in Karachi she gave me good rides and took me for shopping and eating around. It is always a blessing provided by some one when you do not have your own car. She narrated me the ordeals when her car got vanished from jumma bazaar . Luckily she had full coverage and got compensated.

On other occasion she and her mother both were robbed of cash, gold bangles, jewelery and her purse got snatched . It was such a big hassle to re issue the itendity card and driving license. That is how the life in Karachi goes, Insecure and unstable on the streets . One has to be prepared for these kind of situation. I comforted her and asked her to be grateful to Allah that their lives and honor is saved from those miscreants. She was looking forward to a peaceful life, where both husband and wife will be mutual partner taking and sharing their responsibilities.

Over the years she was the mother of three kids , one daughter and two sons. Lovely and growing up a little bit. The oldest one turned 15 this year , daughter 9 and youngest one 6years. She was a Montessori teacher at a local school, her mother was quite efficient taking care of the household and kids mostly. Both mother and daughter getting along nicely but she used to get desperate at times. She was a friend with me on face book .Being a great enthusiastic girl for dresses, hair styles, shoes a lot of fashionable stuff used to come through her page. Posting pictures used to be her hobby. A lot many pictures and albums were there on her profile. Kids birthdays, Ameens, Bismillahs she used to cover and celebrate all the occasions for them. Once I reprimanded her , while she started postings , “I miss my hubby”. “Sabahat dear there is no need of crying on Face book. Just pray to Allah for his help.”


This immigration process has taken a toll on her. After Parvez got his citizenship then he was able to apply for them. It took years and a lot of efforts to go through the process. Earlier a lot many friends and relatives have advised her to apply for a visit visa to USA, go and stay there . It was not an easy task for this she has to tell the authorities lot of fake stuff. When she asked me once. I warned her not to follow any thing illegal or the fake way otherwise you will get into more trouble. Wait and see and you will get your immigration one day and now the day has arrived. I felt so happy for her and her family. We the humble creatures of Allah are bonded in destiny and never know what is in store next for us?

After a week I saw her post that she is running a high fever and is diagnosed with Malaria. I called her and she told me that she was quite sick for a week and feeling very weak and exhausted. She was planning of going to Islamabad by bus which was almost 24 hours journey but now she plans to go by air. “Aunty , I'll stay with Parvez uncle. They live in Pindi because they felt it bad.”

I tried to call her cell # the day she went for interview to the embassy but my call did not get through. In the evening I called Parvez , he told me that there is some problem with her picture , which she needs to change all other work went satisfactory. I was so glad for her , Called her mother whom I call bhabhi to congratulate. She told that again she has a bit of fever. May be she is weak or tired .

She will be OK now , I assured her. After she got back to Karachi, I talked her for a while and asked her to book her seat and come here as soon as possible. She was a bit upset with her ongoing high temperature, going to doctors who were doing a lot of tests and not finding some thing specific. At one time she was told that it is typhoid, then liver abscess and then dengue fever. She was quite a bit upset with her plans tampered, at one point she told me,” aunty I have a lot of pending work , shopping, tailoring and selling my car.”

For some of my tasks I had to visit Pakistan and went to Karachi. Visited them too with a few gifts, she was a bit pale and coughing and Worried about her ongoing fever, “ I take panadol( the Pakistani Tylenol) and then it is a bit down. I am just fed up with this fever and sickness.”

I got worried too , after two weeks the doctors decided to do a bone marrow test on her and she was diagnosed with acute leukemia. She posted on her face book profile

This bone marrow test was so painful... We were just shocked to learn about the severity of the disease. So full of life a thriving woman of 37 years. That is what is called luck and destiny and Allah's will. I discussed with Parvez , he informed me that he is going to Karachi and will bring her and kids with him. My son who is a doctor here in US told me that there are best hospitals in Houston for cancer treatment. They should send her as soon as possible. But her family in Karachi decided to start the treatment at the earliest. They admitted her to a cancer hospital in Karachi. Her chemotherapy got started , the doctors seemed quite hopeful and as I learned she told them to be informed about the whole process. Parvez went but came back heart broken and disappointed because she herself refused to come to USA. What a great turn back and disappointment? Only Allah know, what is in store for us!

The side affects of chemotherapy were drastic. She lost all her hair and became weak and fragile with each passing day. In her 5th or 6th treatment she got lung and respiratory infection. AS it happens in Pakistan , the doctors gave up on her. AS the Hospital ventilator was not working , she was moved to another hospital on ventilator. I visited her and was so appalled to see her condition.

Doctors and the hospital charging huge bills and giving statement every hour that now she is 70% on ventilator and 30% on herself. The cousins in the family rushing for arranging blood, plasma and platelets. The mother was totally devastated.

On her 10th day on ventilator the doctors told the family that there is no use to keep her further on ventilator and she breathed her last.

انا للہ و انا الیہ راجعون

And surely We shall try you with something of fear and hunger, and loss of wealth and lives and crops; but give glad tidings to the patient, Who says, when afflicted with calamity: “To Allah We belong, and to Him is our return”: They are those on whom (descend) Blessings from Allah, and Mercy, and they are the ones that receive guidance. (Al-Baqarah 2:155-157)

In another verse, Allah Almighty says:

He Who created Death and Life, that He may try which of you is best in deed: and He is the Exalted in Might, Oft-Forgiving. (Al-Mulk 67:2)

Whatever misfortune happens to you, is because of the things your hands have wrought, and for many (of them) He grantsforgiveness. (Ash-Shura 42:30)

There is one hadith in which the Prophet Muhammad (Salallahu Allaihi Wassalaam) tells us that the people who face the harshest trial are the prophets, then those next to them (in faith and devotion), and then the next. Everyone will be tried according to his level of faith; one who has strong faith will undergo a harsh trial and one who is of weak faith will receive a weak trial. And the affliction will encompass one until he becomes free of sins altogether.

Whatever befalls us, just keep in our mind what Allah Almighty says :

So, verily, with every difficulty, there is relief: (5) Verily with every difficulty there is relief. (Surah Al-Inshirah 94-6)



In our trying times in our trial we seek Allah SWT ' s mercy and guidelines through Quran as we are his humble creatures and it shows

“That life is not a bed of Roses!


P:S: This is a true story about a niece of mine who passed away recently.

Her kids are now with their father in Houston and the wailing mother is left in Karachi Pakistan.

Let us pray to Allah swt for the departed soul to give her high status in Jannah ,success , well being and harmony for her kids.
